Thank you all so much for your courage and perseverance in pursing this crucial issue of justice and historical responsibility. The world is watching, and it is the actions of people like you that give the rest of the world hope in the future of Japan. Here in Australia, we’ll be thinking about you today and wishing your symposium every success. We’ll also be thinking about the victims of the Japanese military’s wartime institutionalized sexual violence in many countries. We join you in calling on the Japanese government to give them justice and redress, and in seeking new ways to prevent violence against women in war everywhere.
